11.11.2015>> [Announcement] Chat Admins Found
After much deliberation, we have found three admins for our chatrooms.
As chat admins, they will be expected to maintain a comparatively active presence in the main WT Skype chat. Their duties will include reading messages posted to all WT public chats, following up on any disagreements or conflicts that occur, and enforcing rules about chat etiquette when necessary.
They are the go-betweens and spokespersons for members who may be too shy to voice their suggestions/ opinions/concerns to or about your Conductor and Attendants. Chat admins are expected to protect anonymity if you desire it. They can also act as your support/witness if you would like to raise concerns yourself, but are nervous about approaching us alone. They may be asked to show direct quotes (minus your name), so that we can understand exactly what has been said.
Chat admins are your member advocates who will bring your concerns to us on your behalf and advocate for a solution you would find desirable.
10.11.2015>> [Announcement] Follow-up on Concerns, Chat Admins
Hello Traingoers! It's been a bit quiet on the admin front, so we wanted to update you on how we intend to address the various concerns and issues that were raised last month.
Unfortunately, we don't have much to announce that's happening right now. The pressures of our real-life schedules have made it difficult for us to follow up quickly on the various concerns brought to us. However, we do intend to make changes to the group before our next opening, and we'd like your help in figuring out the best courses of action! Specific goals we have for the coming months include:
Recruiting Additional Admins
We agree that it's high time we brought in some other admins. Currently, we are specifically seeking three members to take on a minor admin role as chat moderators.
Chat moderators will be asked to maintain a comparatively active presence in the main WT Skype chat. Their duties will include reading messages posted to all WT public chats, following up on any disagreements or conflicts that occur, and enforcing rules about chat etiquette when necessary. We may develop a list of keywords for chat moderators to receive notifications for.
If you would like to nominate someone or to volunteer for a chat moderator position, please do so! We'd like to appoint people approved of by the members, so long as their schedules permit as much. On that note: if you'd like to nominate someone, please check with them first to make sure that they're willing/able to take on the extra work.
More admin positions may also open in the future as we clarify and refine the duties of our attendants.
Asking for Suggestions from Members
Once our schedules lighten, we'd like to host an open Skype chat/call with as many members as possible about what sort of changes you'd like to see made in the group. If necessary, we may host a series of chats/calls to accomodate more people. As of right now we are unsure what dates we'd like to host these on, but expect to hear more about them before December.
In the meantime, if you have suggestions, please feel free to note the group or leave a message in the anonymous suggestion box [x]. Issues we would particularly welcome suggestions on include:
• Improving the relationship between admins and members
• Making the public chats more welcoming/accessible spaces
• Reducing pressure to compete with other members
If there is something you would like to see us address that has not been mentioned in the announcements above, please feel free to contact us (or Fawnt!) about it. We would love to hear from you.
As an aside, we'd like to remind you that there's no need to contact non-members/prospective members about last month's events unless they specifically request a clarification. Likewise, there's no need to be dismissive of the concerns of former members in such a clarification. Non-members and prospective members have the right to form their own opinion of what happened without the unasked-for input of strangers, and former members have the right to see their disagreements with the group treated with respect.
In closing: we look forward to hearing from you and to making WorldTrain a better group in the coming months!
